The Five Forts GC/GLA Bermuda Summer Junior Development League is heading for a thrilling finale, with the competition in all divisions remaining fierce in Round 9. The final round next week will determine the overall champions, with the league having showcased a high level of talent and dedication from the island's young golfers.
In the White Tee (18 Holes) Stroke Play division, Cillian McGlynn and Damien Moniz each shot an impressive 69 to lead the field, with Jack Jones following closely with a 75. In the Red Tee (9 Holes) Stableford, Josh Cann topped the group with 20 points, while Bradford Laing continued his dominant season in the Forward Tee (9 Holes) Stableford, posting another 20 points and extending his lead in the overall standings.
Heading into the final round, the leaders are: Cole Graham (Blue Tee, 43 pts), Cillian McGlynn (White Tee, 64 pts), Lorcan McGlynn (Red Tee, 66 pts), and Bradford Laing (Forward Tee, 79 pts).
"The league has showcased not just the talent of our young golfers but also their commitment," said Quinton Sherlock, Director of Instruction at Golfzon Leadbetter Academy Bermuda Five Forts. "We are excited to finish on a high note next week." The final round will be followed by a prize presentation ceremony to celebrate all the participants' hard work and progress.
Newton Continues Canadian Campaign at National Junior Championship
Bermuda's Arman Newton has continued his Canadian golf tour, competing in the CJGA Mizuno National Junior Championship at Carlisle after his recent appearance in the North America Cup.
After three rounds, Newton sits in a tie for 15th place at 14-over par. The young golfer showed signs of his potential, improving his scores with each round. After a challenging opening round of 8-over par 80, Newton bounced back with a solid second round of 3-over par 75, which included one birdie and thirteen pars. He followed that up with another 3-over par 75 in his third round.
Newton's consistent improvement throughout the tournament highlights his resilience and will be a valuable experience as he continues to compete at a high level.
