The University of Dayton put on a dominant display to secure a comprehensive 4-0 shutout victory against No. 20 Western Michigan. 12th-ranked Dayton, led by Bermudian star Andrew Armstrong, were in control from the opening whistle, improving their season record to 1-0-1.
The breakthrough came just under two minutes into the match, with junior Martin Bakken netting what proved to be the game-winner. Dayton’s relentless attack continued throughout the game, resulting in 18 shots compared to Western Michigan's seven.
Armstrong was a constant threat, leading the charge with five shots and a goal to his name. The team's defensive prowess was equally impressive, with senior goalkeeper Gavin Krenecki collecting a Dayton career-high five saves to secure the clean sheet.
The victory also marked a number of career milestones for the team. Freshman Mikkel Madsen netted his first career goal and added his first career assist, while senior Ethan Sassine also tallied his first assist at Dayton. Dayton’s four goals were a result of a strong team effort, with three assists recorded on the night, underlining their cohesion and attacking depth.
