Bermuda's Under-14 Girls' team showed grit and determination but were ultimately defeated 1-0 by Jamaica in their opening match of the 2025 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Challenge Series.

Bermuda Starting Line-Up: - Kyra Simmons, Avery Taylor, Ki’Ana Simmons, Leyana Williams, Filipa Marrinhas Duarte, Nadia Medeiros, Mia Daponte, Priya Dill, Devi Samuels, Mirabella Lohan, Me’Lah Wolffe-Rutherford - Substitutes- Kiara Deane, Sydney Denkins, Marli Robinson, Xha’Tore Sawyers, Annabelle Shah, Phoenix Williams, Alva Tucker, Paloma Tucker, Daisy Langley

The young Bermudians, led by their starting goalkeeper Kyra Simmons, battled fiercely and managed to hold a strong Jamaican side to a goalless first half.

The breakthrough came for Jamaica in the second half. In the 58th minute, a long-range shot from Nycolette Prendergrass took an unfortunate deflection, beating the outstanding Simmons to give Jamaica the all-important lead.

Late in the match, Bermuda's hopes were boosted when Jamaica's goalkeeper, Mikalia Banton, was sent off for her second handball offense outside the box, leaving the Jamaican side with ten players for the final eight minutes plus stoppage time. The Bermudian team pressed hard for an equalizer but were unable to find a way through.

Despite the result, Bermuda's goalkeeper Kyra Simmons was deservedly named Player-of-the-Match for her outstanding performance between the posts.
