 The University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) Women's Soccer team has begun its new campaign in style, securing a dominant 4-0 victory and their first shutout of the season against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions. Bermudian Jaden Masters entered the match late on to help her team seal the clean sheet.
Four different ULM players found the back of the net, marking the second consecutive season the team has started with a shutout victory.
The game started with a balanced back-and-forth between the two sides, but ULM took the lead from a corner kick. Beth Strutton rose highest to head the ball into the net, scoring her first goal of the season. Senior Skylar Blaise then doubled the lead in the 36th minute, giving ULM a two-nil advantage at the break.
The second half saw ULM extend their lead further, despite a number of fouls from both sides. Giulia Franco scored in the 71st minute, and just six minutes later, Libby Holmes connected on a header from a Strutton assist for the fourth and final goal of the match.
With 18 minutes remaining, Jaden Masters was brought into the match to help her team secure the victory and the impressive clean sheet.
