Bermuda's Kaden Hopkins has maintained his overall lead in the 74th Tour Cycliste International de la Guadeloupe, successfully defending the Yellow Jersey after a challenging Stage One.
The 160km road race, which took riders from Les Abymes to Saint-François, was a demanding test of endurance and strategy. Hopkins, representing Uni Sport Lamentinois, showed his class by finishing in the leading group. He crossed the line in 6th place, clocking a time of 3:36:57, the exact same time as the stage winner, Delano Swenne.
Having secured the Yellow Jersey with his victory in the prologue, Hopkins' strong performance on a difficult stage ensures he will continue to wear the prestigious jersey. His overall time in the Grand Championship now stands at 3:41:05, and he will be looking to build on his early advantage as the race progresses.
