Bermuda's Nicholas Narraway has begun his campaign at the Vuelta a Zamora in Spain, competing in a challenging opening stage individual time trial.
The first stage of the multi-day race was a 16.8km time trial, starting and finishing in El Toril. Narraway, representing his Tenerife-BikePoint-LaSedeBycicles team, finished with a time of 22 minutes and 23 seconds (22:23).
This time placed him 84th in the stage, with a gap of 2 minutes and 39 seconds behind the winner, Gari Ugarte, who clocked an impressive time of 19 minutes and 44 seconds.
While not the result he may have hoped for, the time trial serves as a crucial starting point for the rest of the race. The result provides a baseline for the general classification, and Narraway will now focus on the upcoming road stages, where he will look to make an impact in the peloton. His participation in such a competitive European race is a valuable part of his continued development on the international cycling scene.
