Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott was an unused substitute for FC Copenhagen as they comfortably secured progression to the UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round, amidst growing speculation linking him with a move to Cardiff City.
The Danish champions defeated FC Drita 3-0 on aggregate, following their 1-0 victory in the second leg in Pristina. The result sees them through to the next stage of Europe's premier club competition.
However, for Trott, the focus may already be shifting. Reports from various outlets, including Danish publication Tipsbladet and now confirmed by sources close to Cardiff City, suggest the 26-year-old is on the verge of completing a loan move to the Welsh club.
It's understood that Trott has already bid farewell to his Copenhagen teammates and has travelled to Cardiff to undergo a medical and finalise the deal, which is expected to include an option to buy should the Bluebirds achieve promotion back to the Championship.
Trott, who joined Copenhagen from West Ham United last summer and made 30 appearances last season, has found himself on the bench for these crucial Champions League qualifiers, with Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson seemingly preferred between the sticks.
While Copenhagen continue their European journey, Trott's potential departure could signal a new chapter in his career, with a move to Cardiff City offering the Bermudian a fresh challenge and a chance for more regular first-team football.
