Olympic swimmer Jack Harvey has commenced his campaign at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, taking to the pool at the prestigious WCH Arena.
Harvey competed in Heat 3 of the Men's 100m Backstroke, where he finished seventh, touching the wall in a time of 55.40 seconds. This performance was just shy of the National Record he currently holds in the event. Overall, Harvey's time placed him 37th in the competitive field.
Reflecting on his race, a candid Harvey expressed some disappointment, stating, "I am disappointed in the back half of the race. I will evaluate and see what can be improved for Junior Pan Ams in the 100m Backstroke."
Head coach Ben Smith offered his assessment, acknowledging the challenges of top-level competition. "He looked really good in his preparation," Smith noted. "Sometimes you just don't have the swim you want. Time to focus on the next event. We have a couple days."
Harvey will now turn his attention to his upcoming events at the Championships, aiming to refine his performance as he continues to compete against the world's elite swimmers.
