The Wednesday Night Sailing Series continued to light up the North Shore this week, with 25 boats lining up for Race Day 15. The evening saw a keen display of tactical sailing, where "corrected time" proved to be the decisive factor in determining the winners.
Scatteraction was the first boat to physically cross the finish line, recording an elapsed time of 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 44 seconds (1:20:44). However, it was their calculated corrected time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, and 24 seconds (1:16:24) that ultimately secured them the victory on the night. Corrected time in sailing accounts for differences in boat design and speed, applying a handicap system to ensure fair competition across diverse fleets.
Airforce was the next boat to cross the line, with an elapsed time of 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 10 seconds (1:21:10). Their strong corrected time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, and 49 seconds (1:16:49) earned them a commendable second place.
Rounding out the podium on corrected time was Menace, clocking in at 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 11 seconds (1:17:11).
The top five was completed by Tiburon, who finished fourth with a corrected time of 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 14 seconds (1:17:14), and Solna II, who secured fifth place with a corrected time of 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 19 seconds (1:17:19).
The close finishes on corrected time highlight the competitive nature of the Wednesday Night Sailing Series, where every second counts and strategic sailing is as crucial as pure boat speed.
