Bermuda's Darina Betschart has begun her challenge in the Girls 13-14 Age Group Division at the prestigious International Optimist Junior Golf Tournament, held on the demanding Blue Monster Course at Trump Doral.
Betschart finished her first round shooting 13-over par 85, placing her T20th. It was a challenging start for the young Bermudian, who struggled on the front nine.
Her round consisted of 3 birdies and 4 pars, but these were offset by 6 bogeys and 5 double bogeys, highlighting the stern test presented by the world-renowned course.
Betschart will be looking to regroup and apply the lessons learned from her opening round as she continues her campaign on the Blue Monster. The experience of competing at such a high-calibre international junior event will undoubtedly be invaluable for her development in the sport.
