Bermuda's Ashley Couper, a former Bermuda Day Half Marathon Female Champion and course record holder, has continued her remarkable transition into the demanding world of triathlon. She added another significant accomplishment to her name by competing in the IRONMAN Lake Placid 2025, where she was also joined by fellow Bermuda triathlete, Marie-Lyne Dore.
Couper, who in recent years has shifted her athletic focus to multi-sport events, successfully tackled the gruelling IRONMAN distance, showcasing her incredible endurance and mental fortitude. She crossed the finish line with an impressive overall time of 11 hours, 0 minutes, and 53 seconds.
This stellar performance saw Couper not only complete one of the toughest challenges in triathlon but also claim victory in her age group, winning the Female 45-49 Age Group Division. Her strong showing placed her as the 46th female finisher overall and the 223rd finisher across all participants to complete the race, a testament to her athletic prowess.
Joining Couper in Lake Placid was Marie-Lyne Dore, who also delivered a fantastic race. Dore secured a superb second-place finish in the Female 40-45 Age Group, clocking a remarkable time of 10 hours, 27 minutes, and 30 seconds. Dore's strong performance saw her cross the line as the 29th female competitor overall and the 128th finisher across all participants.
Couper's pivot from dominating road running to excelling in triathlon, and now conquering the ultimate long-distance test of an IRONMAN, further solidifies her reputation as one of Bermuda's most versatile and dedicated athletes. Her success at Lake Placid, alongside Dore's impressive showing, underscores their continuous pursuit of new challenges and their ability to perform at the highest level across different disciplines.
