Bermuda's footballing talents continue to get valuable minutes under their belts as the pre-season schedule ramps up in England. Harry Twite and Milan Butterfield both featured for their respective clubs in recent friendlies, with contrasting fortunes on the day.
Twite's Loughborough Start Pre-Season Strong
Defender Harry Twite was in action for Loughborough Students FC as they faced Ashby Ivanhoe FC in a pre-season friendly at The Element Ground. In what was likely a valuable fitness exercise and an opportunity to fine-tune tactics, the match remained a tight affair in the first half, with neither side able to break the deadlock.
However, Loughborough found their rhythm in the second period. Two well-taken goals after the break secured a 2-0 victory for Twite's side, a positive start to their pre-season preparations and a clean sheet to boot for the defence.
Butterfield's Halesowen Fall in Five-Goal Thriller
Further south, Milan Butterfield and his Halesowen Town teammates were involved in a more dramatic encounter as they took on Hednesford Town FC in their own pre-season friendly.
In a match that saw five goals, Halesowen ultimately came out on the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline. While the result may be disappointing, pre-season friendlies are often used to experiment with formations and give playing time to the squad. Butterfield will no doubt be looking to build on this experience as Halesowen continue their preparations for the upcoming season.
Both Twite and Butterfield will be aiming to make significant impacts for their clubs as the new football season draws closer, carrying the hopes of Bermudian football on their shoulders.
