The waters of the North Shore were alive with the spectacle of the Gladys Raynor Cup Comet Regatta, hosted by the Mid Atlantic Sailboat Club. And once again, it was the formidable duo of Maxwell Curtis and his crew Wesley Tucker who emerged victorious, showcasing their undeniable dominance on the Bermudian sailing scene.
Curtis and Tucker delivered another masterclass performance, securing two wins on the day. Coupled with a third and a sixth-place finish, they strategically discarded their sixth to accumulate a winning total of five points. This consistent top-tier sailing has become a hallmark of their partnership.
Finishing in a respectable second place were Quinton Simons and Greg Proctor. They demonstrated strong form with two second-place finishes and two thirds, amassing a total of seven points. Rounding out the podium were Geovanni Hayward and Eli Furbert, who secured nine points. Their day included two second-place finishes, a fifth, and a Did Not Finish, highlighting the challenging conditions faced by all competitors.
The regatta began with a familiar sight for local sailing enthusiasts: a Lambert claiming the first race. This time, it was veteran sailor Gladwin Lambert and his crew Stefan Maybury who crossed the line first, setting an early pace in the competitive fleet.
The Gladys Raynor Cup provided another thrilling display of local sailing talent, with Curtis and Tucker once again proving why they are considered among the best.
