The Wednesday Night Sailing Series continued its thrilling run with Race Day 13 last night, as 28 boats took to the startline for competitive yacht racing on Hamilton Harbour and the Great Sound. Airforce emerged victorious on corrected time, showcasing the strategic importance of handicapping in the series.
"Crossfire" was the first boat to physically cross the finish line, clocking an elapsed time of 1 hour, 1 minute, and 50 seconds (1:01:50). However, after handicaps were applied, their corrected time of 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 12 seconds (1:08:12) saw them finish fourth on the night.
It was "Airforce" that ultimately claimed line honours on corrected time. Crossing the line second on elapsed time in 1 hour, 9 minutes, and 58 seconds (1:09:58), their superior corrected time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 13 seconds (1:06:13) secured them the well-deserved victory on the night.
"Scatteraction" secured a strong second place with a corrected time of 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 5 seconds (1:07:05). "Passion" claimed third with a corrected time of 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 45 seconds (1:07:45), and "Back in Black" rounded out the top five finishers with a corrected time of 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 14 seconds (1:08:14).
The results from Race Day 13 further underscore the competitive nature of the Wednesday Night Sailing Series, where strategic sailing and accurate handicapping often dictate the final standings.
