Cyclist Kaden Hopkins, representing Uni Sport Lamentinois, has concluded his strong showing at the Coupe Frédéric Jalton, a challenging three-stage race in Guadeloupe. Hopkins finished an impressive 11th overall, clocking a combined time of 9 hours, 6 minutes, and 21 seconds. He finished 16 minutes and 39 seconds behind the overall winner, France's Urcel Adrien, who took the yellow jersey in 8:49:42.
Hopkins demonstrated his form from the outset. Stage 1, covering a distance of 121.8km, saw him cross the line in a time of 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 26 seconds, placing him 4th. Crucially, he was awarded the same time as the stage winner, Urcel Adrien.
Stage 2 was split into two parts. The first part, a short 1.7km sprint, saw Hopkins finish 6th, stopping the clock in 2 minutes and 8 seconds. He was just 0.08 seconds behind the winner, France's Kévin Le Cunff. Part Two of Stage 2 was a 99.8km race, where Hopkins clocked a time of 2 hours, 45 minutes, and 51 seconds, finishing 24th on the stage, 17 minutes and 37 seconds behind the stage winner, France's Yannis Agricole.
The 3rd and Final Stage saw Hopkins deliver a truly outstanding performance, finishing 2nd in a fiercely contested sprint. He covered the 137km distance in 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 56 seconds, finishing a mere 0.32 seconds behind the stage winner, France's Samuel Horn.
Hopkins' strong final stage, coupled with his consistent performances throughout the demanding three days, highlights his growing strength and endurance on the international cycling circuit. His 11th place overall finish against a competitive field in a UCI-sanctioned event is a significant result for the Bermudian.
