Bermudian footballers are making their mark as European club teams ramp up their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 season, with Logan Jimenez featuring for Hibernian FC and Djair Parfitt helping FC Haka to a vital win.
Jimenez Features for Hibs in Pre-Season Draw
Young Bermudian Logan Jimenez had an opportunity to impress, coming off the bench for Hibernian FC in their pre-season friendly against German Bundesliga 3 side MSV Duisburg in the Netherlands. The two sides played to a 0-0 draw in what was described as a competitive contest, held in challenging 30-degree heat.
As the Hibs' first pre-season friendly, minutes were shared amongst First Team and Academy players, including Jimenez, who travelled with the squad to the training camp. Only Warren O’Hora, Lewis Gillie, Jacob MacIntyre, and Dean Cleland completed the full 90 minutes. Hibs, sporting their brand-new 2025/26 kit, created some half-decent chances but couldn't break the deadlock, resulting in a stalemate.
Parfitt's FC Haka Return to Winning Ways
In Finland, Djair Parfitt and his FC Haka teammates returned to winning ways, securing a valuable 2-1 victory over Vaasa on Wednesday. The win came after initially being down by a goal, showcasing Haka's resilience. The home team took an early lead after just six minutes when former Haka player Maissa Fall headed in Alfie Cicale's low cross.
However, Haka, playing in blue, did not give up and equalized just seven minutes later. Captain Niklas Friberg intercepted a pass, setting up Eetu Mömmö, who cut inside and unleashed a left-footed shot into the top left corner – a contender for goal of the season. Haka, who dominated the first half, took the lead in the 33rd minute. Mömmö's short corner found Jean-Pierre Da Sylva in the penalty area, whose right-footed placement deflected off Pedro Justiniano and past goalkeeper Rasmus Leislahti, securing the 2-1 lead which they held to claim the victory.
