The Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play Championships continued today at the Port Royal Golf Course, setting up a thrilling final round with leads tightening and new contenders emerging across the divisions.
In the Men’s Championship, Eric West has held onto his lead, carding his second consecutive two-over-par 73. He now stands at four-over-par for the tournament, heading into Sunday's final round. The chasing pack remained fiercely competitive; Jarryd Dillas shot a crucial two-over-par 73 to climb into second place at six-over-par. A group of three golfers – promising young talent Arman Newton, Will Haddrell, and defending champion Damian Palanyandi – are all poised at nine-over-par, meaning the championship is still very much in play.
The Ladies Championship has a new leader in Darina Betschart. The young golfer moved to the top after an impressive second round of nine-over-par 80, placing her at 17-over-par overall. Tracy Burgess, fresh from her international experience at Pinehurst, is just one stroke back on 18-over-par after her second round of 11-over-par 82. First-round leader Vanessa Chychrun dropped to third place, sitting at 21-over-par after a challenging fifteen-over-par 86 in her second round.
In the Senior Men’s Championship, Baldonick Fernandez has maintained his position as the clubhouse leader. Despite an eight-over-par 79 in his second round, he now leads by four strokes at 12-over-par for the tournament. Former winner Arthur Jones is four strokes behind him on 16-over-par, with Mark Ray just one stroke further back in third place.
With only one round remaining, the leaders will be aiming to consolidate their positions and claim their respective titles, while the chasing pack in each division will be looking to mount early charges to close the gaps and vie for championship honours at Port Royal.
