Bristol City star Nahki Wells was recently named Bristol City’s PFA Community Champion for the 2024/25 season.
The award recognizes the contribution players make off the pitch in the local community and players have been nominated by Bristol City Robins Foundation.
Wells has regularly demonstrated his commitment to the community. From donating Christmas presents to young people in need at the Foundation’s free holiday camps, to making local children feel at home on a recent visit to the High Performance Centre and spearheading clothes and signing boot donations from the men’s team, Wells has had one eye on his local community.
Wells’ actions have not only impacted the Foundation’s participants directly, through gifts and aspirational conversations, but also through auctioned signed boots that have helped raise vital funds that have been reinvested into the community.
On winning the award, Wells said, “The Robins Foundation is so important to us as a club and this season to be able to give back in even a small way, we know makes a difference.
“The players have really enjoyed going to holiday camps, giving back through donations and we were all reminded of the importance every week when we put on our shirt with the Foundation on the front of it.”
Willie Clemons
Leiston Football Club have made their first signing of the close season, with Bermudian international Willie Clemons joining the club.
Clemons, 30, is an attacking player who has played for his country 33 times, netting three goals for Bermuda.
He’s been on Leiston’s radar for some time and, at last, the Blues have got their man.
“I’m happy to finally get it sorted,” Clemons said.
“I’ve been familiar with the club for a while now. I almost came here a couple of years ago but ended up at Braintree. But Leiston is a good club, I’ve always admired it from afar. I can’t wait to get going.
“The ground is looking good, the pitch at Leiston has always been one of the best to play on. I’m looking forward to it.”
