Mixed Fortunes for Bermuda Volleyball Teams in Denver

IslandStats.com
The second day of competition at the prestigious 2025 USA Volleyball Open National Championship in Denver, Colorado, brought a mixed bag of results for Bermuda's representatives, the Devil’s Isle Women's squad and the Ace Boyz Men’s team.

After a challenging opening day, both teams were looking to make their mark in the highly competitive tournament.

Tough Going Continues for Devil's Isle Ladies

Unfortunately, the second day brought more disappointment for the Devil's Isle Women's team as they faced another three matches, all resulting in straight-set defeats. Their day began with a repeat encounter against the Chicago Coast, where they again succumbed 25-19, 25-9. Their second match of the day saw them fall to the SHOG Dogs 25-20, 25-21 in a slightly closer contest. The final match of the day against Blono Elite ended in a 25-14, 25-13 loss. While the results haven't gone their way, the experience of competing against high-calibre opposition in this national championship will undoubtedly be valuable for the squad's future development.

Ace Boyz Show Their Strength Before Late Setback

It was a more positive day for the Ace Boyz Men’s team, who demonstrated their capabilities on the national stage. They carried their momentum from the previous day, starting with a confident straight-sets victory over the Scrubs, securing the win with scores of 25-17, 25-18. Their second match of the day saw them continue their winning streak, defeating Sets in the City in another straight-sets encounter, this time with scores of 27-25 and a more comfortable 25-14 in the second set. This impressive run showcased their attacking prowess and teamwork.

However, their winning streak came to an end in their final match of the day against Fog Canada. In a closely fought encounter, the Ace Boyz narrowly lost the first set 30-28 after a tense battle. The second set saw Fog Canada maintain their edge, eventually taking it 25-21, handing the Ace Boyz their first defeat of the day.

Despite the final loss, the Ace Boyz will take heart from their two victories on the second day, demonstrating their ability to compete at this level. Both the Devil's Isle Women's team and the Ace Boyz will be looking to learn from their experiences as the prestigious tournament in Denver continues.
