Chelmsford City have confirmed that midfielder Kane Crichlow has declined the offer of a new contract with the club. The Bermuda international has opted to make the step up to the National League, signing for Sutton United.
Crichlow joined the Clarets in July 2024, impressing during an initial trial period to secure a permanent move. The midfielder went on to become a key figure for Chelmsford City throughout the 2024-25 season, making a total of 44 appearances across all competitions and scoring a valuable 14 goals.
His impressive performances did not go unnoticed, as Crichlow swept the board at the club's end-of-season awards. He was voted the Players' Player of the Season, recognised by his teammates, and also earned the Manager's Player of the Season award, highlighting his importance to Robbie Simpson's side. To complete a memorable treble, Crichlow was also named the Fans' Player of the Season, demonstrating the strong connection he forged with the Chelmsford City faithful during his time at Melbourne Community Stadium.
Despite the club's desire to retain his services, Crichlow has chosen to pursue an opportunity in the National League with Sutton United. Chelmsford City will undoubtedly be disappointed to lose a player of his calibre, but they will wish him well as he embarks on this new chapter in his career.
