Youth Olympic Games Spotlight – Ceci Wollmann

A total of Seven (7) athletes will represent Bermuda at the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games that will take place in Nanjing, China from August 16th to August 28th 2014.

Today www.islandstats.com continues with the Spotlight on an athlete that will be vying for Medals at the Games. We bring you Sailor Cecilia Wollmann.

Q. What is something many people don't know about you?
A.
I don't have a middle name.

Q. What's your Favorite Food?
A.
Chocolate Ice Cream

Q. What is something you always do before you compete? A. Check my boat over twice

Q. Nick Name?
A.
Ceci

Q. When you are not competing or training what are some of the things you like to do?
A.
Go to the beach

Q. How did you first get involved in your Sport?
A.
I started in summer camp in 2006 when I was 8 at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club

Q. When did you realize that you wanted to compete Internationally?
A.
When I qualified to go to Ecuador in 2009

Q. What one moment in your sport to date are you most proud of?
A.
Being presented with the Government of Bermuda Junior Achievement Award last year because it looked collectively at all my results and hard work over the years.

Q. What are your goals for the rest of 2014?
A.
To come top 5 at Youth Olympic Games.

Q. Can you give an insight into an average week of training for you?

A.
During the school year:
Monday- fitness after school
Tuesday- training after school
Wednesday- fitness after school
Thursday- training after school
Friday- free day
Saturday- afternoon training
Sunday- racing practice

This summer I left school early in June and competed at the Laser Radial North American Championships in California, I then went to Newport to train with my coach and the USA YOG sailor (we are both North American Champs and both came in top 5 at 2013 World's where we qualified our countries), participated in the BEG clinic, came home for a week, then went to Portugal to compete in the ISAF Youth World's, I am now home and will either go to Newport or host the USA sailor (or both) to do some final preparation for the Youth Olympic Games.
