With a leap of 5.94m Jasmine Brunson won the Women Long Jump at the at the Clemson Games.

Brunson recorded the two biggest leaps of the day when she leaped 5.92m on her 5th attempt before beating that leap on her 6th attempt.

Meanwhile Shianne Smith’s Cal State L.A.’s women’s indoor track and field team got its 2010 season underway in the first day of competition at the 2010 University of Washington Invitational.

Smith led four Cal State athletes in the indoor pentathlon, while Liliana Hernandez and Dora Perez ran well in the 5,000 in the opening day of the two-day event at the Dempsey Indoor Arena. Smith finished third in the pentathlon with an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of 3,584 points.

Smith had marks of 8.96 in the 60 hurdles, 5-2.25 in the high jump, 29-4.75 in the shot put, 18-8 in the long jump and 2:26.60 in the 800.

Shahnel Woodley was one of the UNLV women's track and field student-athletes who had a strong, all-around meet at the Lobo Challenge combining for 14 top-eight finishes at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Woodley finished in seventh place in the 60 meters with a time of 8.18.

Competing in her first year for the St. John's University Alexis Bean finished 8th in the 800m with a time of 2:21.03 in the Indoor Metropolitan Championships.

Onion Series Multi Age Meet

In the Onion Series Multi Age Meet at the National Sports Center saw three more athletes meet the Qualifying Standard for the Carifta Games.

Taylor Ashley Bean reached the B Standard for the Girls Under 20 1500m clocking a time of 5.06.84, while Dage Minors reached the A Qualifying Standard in the Boy’s Under 17 3000m when he recorded a time of 9:54.67 and Trey Simons running in the 5000m reached the A Qualifying Standard for the Boy’s Under 20 when he hit the tape in a time of 16.33.47.

Zye Simmons win the Girls 10-11 100 Meter race in a time of 16.62, Rueben Bulhoes won the Boys 10-11 100 Meter race in a time of 15.96, Jakobe Frith finished second in 18.23 and Javontae Steede finished third in a time of 18.74.

Victoria Clarke won the Women 14-16 100 Meter race clocking a time of 12.2, Tyra Stovall finished second in 12.6 and Tahira Butterfield was third in 13.2. Lamont Marshall won the Men 20+ 800 Meter race in a time of 2:00.46, while Aaliyah Nolan won the Girls 12-13 1500 Meter race in a time of 5:32.15, with Erica Hawley second in 5:32.68. Juma Mouchette won the Men 14-16 1500 Meter race in a time of 4:36.20, with Minors finishing second in 4:38.76.
