Aaron Evans out legged second place Juan Carrillo to win the Men’s 800 Meter Race at the University of Kentucky Invitational Indoor Track & Field Meet.
Evans like Latroya Darrell the day before was making his debut for the University of Georgia and opened up with a win.
Evans recorded a time of 1:50.65, with Carrillo finishing in a time of 1:50.95 and Sharif Webb rounded out the top three when he completed the race in a time of 1:51.07.
Darrell followed up her Women’s Triple Jump win at the University of Kentucky Invitational Indoor Track & Field Meet competing for her school the University of Georgia with a 5th place finish in the Women’s High Jump.
Darrell recorded a leap of 1.73m to finish tied for 5th and .05m behind Rachel Gehret from Louisvill who finished 4th. Unattached Chaunte Howard won the event with a leap of 1.88m, with this leap Darrell has qualified for the CAC Games. Meanwhile Jasmine Brunson finished 11th in the Women’s Triple Jump with a leap of 11.76m competing for her school the Clemson University.
The Clemson track & field teams produced five event winners and five NCAA qualifiers on the first day of competition at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
