Barras Wins 2009 Grand Prix

Tom Barras was crowned 2009 Butterfield Bermuda Grand Prix Champion following the Time Trial in the morning and then the Hamilton criterium race in the afternoon.

This is the second year straight that Barras has won the title and he and his teammates are making their plans for 2010 already, Jason White finished second overall, Gavin Mannion was third with Bermuda’s Garth Thomson fourth.

Thomson clocked the fastest time in the Time Trial in wet conditions at Southside, Thomson completed the course in 16:56, Jason White was second in 17:24, while Barras finished third in 17:31. Barras then won the Hamilton criterium clocking a time of 1:00:40, with White second and Mannion finished third. Thomson had a mechanical problem on the first lap but was able to get back involved but finished sixth.

Deanna Thomson won the Women’s A Division after winning the Time Trial and then the Hamilton criterium, Nicole Mitchell finished second. Dominique Mayho’s form continued when he won the Men’s B Division, after finishing 6th in the time trial Mayho out sprinted Norbert Meyer to win the Hamilton criterium and take the title.
