The Berkeley Institute held off a determined Warwick Academy team to win the Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Senior School Girls Six-A-Side Football Tournament at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence.
Both teams entered the final boasting talented teams capable of being crowned champions. After a few nervous moments for each team Berkeley finally broke the deadlock through Kalila Daley. Berkeley then capitalized with further goals from Janiya Sealey and Evans Welch and took a commanding 3 - 0 lead into halftime.
Warwick started the second half full of confidence and got two quick goals through Sanaa Simmons and Amiya James. Warwick continued to press but could not find an equalizer falling 3 – 2.
Saltus Grammar School finished in third place after easing past CedarBridge Academy 5 - 0 in the third-place match. Katherine Rosario Bean and Abby Autmezguine scored two each while Ella Newton added the other.
Warwick Academy had defeated Saltus 3 - 2 on penalties after neither team could score in their Semi-Final. Sealey sole goal was enough to book Berkeley Gold in the final with a 1 - 0 win over CedarBridge Academy.
