Stefan Simmons, Joshua Joseph, and Shane Robinson, and their Thomas College Men's Soccer teammates reclaimed the Elm City Cup with a 2-1 victory over local rival Colby College in front of a large lively crowd.
Thomas College came into the contest having not beaten Colby since 2015 but they did not that faze them. The match was fast, physical, and each team competed brilliantly. Jonathan LeClair made two athletic saves to conclude the first half at 0-0.
Colby struck first blood early in the second half when Ethan Franco scored first in the 55th minute to put them ahead 1-0. Thomas College responded shortly after with a clever goal by Simmons to tie the match in the 89th minute.
Each team showed a strong desire to win, but Hayden Elwell found the top left corner of the goal on a set piece to seal the overtime win at 109:38. Concluding the game at 2-1 and reclaiming the Elm City Cup. It was the first win against a New England Small College Athletic Conference for every player on the roster.
