Ne-Jai Tuckers teammate Rob Harker struck again for Burnley, but they fell to a 2-1 defeat against their partnership club Ayr United, on a sunny afternoon at Somerset Park.
United, who have already kicked off their competitive fixtures with a defeat and a win in their opening two group games in the Scottish League Cup, were two goals to the good with just seven minutes played, before Harker fired home his third goal in two games for the Under 23s in the ninth minute.
The hosts got off to a perfect start, as Mark McKenzie played a neat one-two with Patrick Reading, who fed it back to McKenzie to turn home from close range.
And just minutes later, United had their second, after a dangerous ball into the area looked to take a deflection off defender Harry Williams and into the back of the net past Harry Allen.
