Yushae DeSilva-Andrade continued competing in the Boccia World Championships.
Over 170 athletes from 41 countries are competing. The competition is being held in Carioca 1 Arena (in Olympic Park) next door to where Boccia was played in Rio Paralympics.
In her Quarter-Final match-up, DeSilva-Andrade would fall 3 – 2 to Dora Basic from Croatia.
Coach Troy Farnsworth told www.islandstats.com, “It was a tough one and disappointing to be so close to progressing to top 4.
Literally it came down to the last shot of the game and unfortunately Yushae could not get one more point to send the game to a tie break.
However, overall it has been a fantastic tournament and Yushae has proven to herself she has the skills to compete with the world's best.
Finishing in the top 8 of a major competition for first time is a great accomplishment.
I think this competition has also given her the self-belief that she can be a real contender in any future competition she plays in moving forward.
I know Yushae is very keen to continue to improve different aspects of her game after this competition so hopefully in the future she can go one step further.”
