IslandStats.com
The Department of Youth, Sports and Recreation invited Callix Crabbe a former Major League Baseball second baseman on the island to facilitate their Coaching for Success Programme.

Crabbe is currently Owner of Crabbeology Sports Development and was selected during the 2007 Rule 5 Draft by the San Diego Padres from the Milwaukee Brewers, but was returned on May 16th, 2008.

Some 30 coaches have taken up the opportunity to hear and retain the knowledge from Crabbe.

The Course had 4 Modules over a three day period, Module One - Developing Competitors, Module Two - Double Goal Coach: Culture, Practices & Games, Module Three - Positive Motivation: Getting the Best from Athletes and Module Four - Mastery: Coaching for Peak Performance.

Crabbe comes from a diverse background beginning in St.Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. He spent the first 15 years of his life in St. Thomas where he attended Charlotte Amalie High School. He went on to finish his last two years of high school on the main land attending Stone Mountain High in Stone Mountain, GA.

Crabbe later attended Young Harris College and Manatee Community College in Bradenton, for his college playing time. In 2002, he began his professional career after being selected in the 12th round by the Milwaukee Brewers.

After five years in their system, Crabbe made his MLB debut in March of 2008 with the San Diego Padres. He spent ten years total at every level of professional baseball with four teams the Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays.

Crabbe has a long history of beating the odds and this is where his passion for coaching lies, giving players the belief that sport helps us discover what we are capable of and teaching us how to discover the unknown about ourselves.
