Reza Baluchi’s dream two years ago of traveling the ocean in a giant bubble to spread peace was dashed when some 70 miles into his journey heading to Bermuda his GPS had fallen into the ocean. The U.S. Coast Guard began monitoring his movements and eventually rescued him from the sea. Officials said Baluchi was disoriented.
Baluchi an endurance athlete began a second attempt at making the voyage from South Florida to the Bermuda using his "hydro pod,” a plastic container that allows him to run on water like a hamster in a giant Ferris wheel.
Two years ago Baluchi said, “They burst my bubble. Now, I put a sign there: ‘please don't burst my bubble.”
If the new-and-improved bubble Baluchi has been perfecting doesn't burst, he plans to trace the Bermuda Triangle, visiting Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Haiti and Cuba.
In front of a crowd of sunbathers on Pompano Beach and news cameras, Baluchi got into his bubble to begin his journey again.
Baluchi could be heard saying “Yes -- leave me alone, leave me alone,” as he began his journey.
