ROGER LEE – BASFORD FOOTBALL CLUB
Roger Lee and his Basford United clinched an Evo Stik League play-off place with a 3-1 victory over Daventry Town
Ruben Wiggins-Thomas set them on their way with a 16th minute opener. He was brought down and got up to calmly stroke the penalty home.
Basford dominated but found Daventry keeper Ben Heath in fine form and had to wait until the second minute of the second half for another goal, Wiggins-Thomas scoring from close range after good work by Stuart Hendrie.
Kyle Dixon scored the third after 61 minutes - again Wiggins-Thomas was involved as he rounded the keeper leaving Dixon to tap home into the empty net.
Daventry never gave up and Jetmir Esso scored a deserved consolation four minutes from time.
Basford: Deeney, McNicholas (Lee 63), Meikle, Hollis, Rowley, Darkin (J Duffy 78), Bopp, Smith, Hendrie, Wiggins-Thomas (Grantham 68), Dixon.
JONTE SMITH – LEWES FOOTBALL CLUB
Jonte Smith scored in Lewes 2 – 2 draw with Play-off prospects Kingstonian. The draw was a superb result for Lewes and stretched their unbeaten run to seven games, the longest unbeaten run in the Ryman League Premier Division.
However, results elsewhere meant that it is no longer possible for them to mathematically avoid relegation and as it stands they will be taking their place next season in the Ryman League South Division.
Smith converted from the penalty spot in the 54th minute, but Lewes could not come good as they gave up their 2 – 0 lead.
