It was two weeks ago today that Shelley Pearson was crowned the FISA Americas Olympic Continental Qualification Regatta Women’s One Division Champion after winning the Women’s Singles Rowing Final in Curauma, Chile.
Pearson’s performance booked her ticket to Rio for the 2016 Olympics.
Since then Pearson said to www.islandstats.com, “School needed to take priority over the last two weeks.”
“Winning the event and Qualifying still feels absolutely surreal,” continued Pearson. When asked if getting ready for her exams took time from training Pearson said, “Exams didn't affect my preparation but once the regatta was over I needed to focus on school.”
Pearson is expected to return soon for two weeks, which in her words will be amazing to see everyone who has helped me get to where I am.
Pearson returned to England in time to see her former 8’s teammates in the Rowing boat race, “It was fantastic to watch them win again. I feel very attached to both the blue boat and osiris (second boat),” concluded Pearson.
