Warwick Academy student, 14-year-old Gianna Webbe was first to compete with the strongest performance of the team. Webbe went on to earn the title of 2016 level 8 Vault Champion after outscoring the entire level 8 squad on Vault with a score of (9.15). She also received podium recognition for her placement on Uneven Bars and Beam and rounded out her day with an overall fourth place and a score of 35.825 in her first time ever competing at this level. Webbe was particularly proud of her performance on the Balance Beam, which earned her a score of (9.05). It was her best performance to date and earned her fifth place on the podium.
In the level 9 sessions, 13-year-old Warwick Academy student Anna Francoeur had her best performance so far placing fifth on Balance Beam with a score of 8.95. She also received podium recognition on the Uneven bars.
Rounding out the Chicago Style Meet were Bermuda High School student Danielle Wall and Saltus student Zantae Dill. Wall’s performance earned her five different trips to the podium to recognize her hard work leading to a sixth place all around placement in her age division. In the same category Dill, who is in her senior year at Saltus, was named the 2016 level 9 Senior Beam Champion with a score of (9.05). Dill’s performance earned her a 10th all around placement.
Head Coach Adriana Forde applauded the girls saying, “I am so impressed with these girls as cold and flu season really tested their mental, emotional and physical preparation leading up to this event. It was important for me to see how these ladies adapted to overcome these types of training obstacles. The girls walked away with numerous personal bests based on last year’s results, which is an accomplishment of its own regardless of the podium results.
“With both the girls’ difficulty and technical performances improving, they should be confident that this proves their dedication to the new training program is paying off. This season we have seen the organization continue to show excellence and I look forward to our continued success as we send both our competitive boys and girls team away this weekend Feb 19th – 21st to St. Petersburg, Florida to attend the Gasparilla Classic. We have many of our junior boys competing for the very first time and I am positive they will follow in the footsteps of our past performances.”
