Bermuda’s Brazilian Football School (BBFS) in partnership with Bank of Bermuda Foundation (BOB philanthropic partner), facilitated a 5 month After School program at the Dellwood Middle School. The program commenced on January 13th and concluded on June 4th with football and Futsal activity from 3:30 – 5:00 pm twice a week.
Each week (Tuesday’s & Thursday’s) the After School Football program offered a maximum of 30 students, a fun and active safe haven for those who would primarily leave the school grounds without adult supervision. The post 3:30 pm program ensured that all participating students received positive male/female mentoring.
The program offered the opportunity to engage in weekly discussions, whilst encouraging healthy physical activity, aimed at decreasing the risks of childhood obesity and or diabetes. Due to the generous support of the Bank of Bermuda Foundation and Market Place Group, the students received healthy snacks and health drinks during each session, at no costs to the students or school.
On the last day of the program, the students were treated to a delicious fast food snack as a reward for their outstanding behavior and weekly attendance. The weekly attendance was above 80% with an average of 25 out of 30 students attending each session.
