Sideya Dill Joins Islandstats.com

IslandStats.com
Sideya Dill is an 18 year old female Bermudian, with a passion for sports and Communication and Media Studies. Dill currently attends a boarding school in Easthampton, Massachusetts called The Williston Northampton School, where while continuing with her studies she also plays football.

Dill has joined Islandstats.com for the Summer to gain work experience.

Dill had a strong interest in writing and English from a very young age and in the last five years she developed a passion for photography and editing. During this past year at her boarding school, she took up Journalism, Digital Photography and editing, Photography Dark Room and even discovered a new interest when taking Film Studies.

Throughout the past academic school year Dill had many successes with these courses. For Journalism many of her articles were published in The Willistonian, her school newspaper, which is the oldest continuously published high school newspaper in America, and on their online website: willistonian.org.

At the end of the second trimester Dill was promoted to associate editor of the newspaper, and by the end of the third trimester, was promoted to Top Editor and Manager of Special Projects for the following year.

Dill was able to incorporate her Photography skills into her Journalism work by photographing and editing many of the pictures for her articles herself and even starting a Photojournalism project called #IAmWilliston. This is a campaign that she started which was meant to highlight individuals in the school that exemplified the school’s motto: “Purpose Passion Integrity.” For this project she profiled different individuals by taking their photograph and pairing it with a quote form the individual saying why they feel they represent purpose, passion and/or integrity.

Dill decided that Communication and Media Studies was something she would like to pursue at a higher education and more likely as an occupation in the future, so she began to look at colleges and universities with well established programs suited to her interests.

Realizing that one of the more important aspects of this sort of occupation was hands on experience, she also began to look at opportunities at home where she could intern for the summer to improve her skills and broaden her knowledge in the field.
