Three members of the Bermuda Gymnastics Men’s Competitive Gymnastics team traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts recently to compete in the 2015 Tim Daggett National Invitational. Jacob Madeiros and Ben Mello competed against 42 gymnasts in the 7+8 year old Level 4 Division, while Jordan Trimarchi took on 48 youngsters in the 9+10 year old Level 5 Division. The trio put up a strong showing, finishing 12th, 19th, and 28th in the All-Around, respectively.
Coming off a win on vaulting at the YellowJackets Holiday Invitational in December, Bermuda’s top finish came from Jacob Madeiros on the same event, winning the silver medal with a 10.2. Madeiros also finished 5th on parallel bars (10.1) and 9th on pommel horse (9.2). Teammate Ben Mello, in his first ever competition, earned a 6th place medal on vaulting (10.0), and also finished 13th on parallel bars (9.6).
In a highly competitive Level 5 division, Jordan Trimarchi scored a huge 10.4 on rings, but finished just out of the medals due to a tie break (13th). Trimarchi also had a strong vault for a 9.8 and 19th place.
The boys squad is back in action at the end of the month, when 6 gymnasts will travel to College Park, Maryland for the prestigious Mid Atlantic Gymnastics Invitational.
