Verdet Kessler began competing in the 2014 Joy Twining & Joan Jones Badminton Championships in Lockleys, Australia. On the opening day, Kessler would play a total of six games.
Kessler the number one seed won her opening Women’s Singles match defeating Malvika Hemanth 21-12, 21-7, one hour later she would defeat Tatyana Hubczenko 21-6, 21-2.
Kessler would switch her attention to take part in the Women’s Doubles teaming up with Talia Saunders, they were the number one seeds, the pair defeated Aya Dow and Stephanie Tze-Yuin Jong in their opening match 21-6, 21-7.
Kessler and Jason Dow where seeded number three in Mixed Doubles they won their first match 21-9, 21-11 over Zhen Qiu Yong and Joyce Xin Yi See.
Kessler moved back into the Women’s Doubles as she and Saunders defeated the number two seed Malvika Hemanth and Joyce Xin Yi See 21-11, 21-5.
Her final match on day one saw Kessler and Dow defeat David Sun and Xuanyu Zhou 21-3, 21-10 in their Mixed Doubles match.
