Validus Holdings, Ltd. and Bascome Enterprise announced the Validus Power of One soccer camp, to be held from August 18th through August 22nd at Somersfield Academy.

Players from 10 to 15 years of age will participate in the camp, which combine soccer development with business learning, civic engagement, social skills and education.

The Validus Power of One soccer camp, now in its second year, includes business learning, active development, social skills, education and sports to help young people develop leadership skills as well aa greater understanding of what it takes to succeed in and outside the classroom. Through leading strategies this holistic program will provide youth athletes with the necessary skills to become leaders.

Jeff Sangster, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Validus Holdings, said, “We are thrilled with the success of last year’s camp and we are delighted to continue to support David Bascome and his staff as they continue to develop young people’s leadership skills as well as their understanding of what it takes to succeed in the community, in the classroom, in business and on the soccer field.”

The Validus Power of One camp utilizes the Bascome Enterprise’s leadership development and network outreach process which involves a hands-on monthly evaluation that allows staff to stay connected with the youth players, their parents and schools.

David Bascome, MBE, Vice President for College & Career Readiness at the Community Development Center, said, "For many years I have been coming back to Bermuda and running programs that help young people achieve their goals of being successful on the field. This year, with great support from Validus, I have been able to develop the Validus Power of One career and personal building camp whose initiative is to build leaders in the community and on the soccer field. The camp will help prepare young athletes for success in the 21st Century through business learning, activity development, social skills, education and sports. 100 scholarships have been awarded to young Bermudian players. Again, I want to thank Validus for taking on this global Power of One process for our young people."
