Wheaton College rattled off six goals over the course of 15 minutes in the second half en route to an 11-6 victory over Emily Dunne and her MIT Women’s Lacrosse teammates in a NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse tilt. Sophomore Isabella DiDio scored three goals, one assist, four groundballs, and three draw controls for the MIT.
DiDio opened the scoring with a free-position shot after 2:46 elapsed and then set up freshman Erica Green at the 21:46 mark. Almost a minute later, senior Erica Du buried her own free-position attempt to give MIT a 3-0 advantage. Wheaton College ended the shutout shortly after the ensuing draw but the game became a back-and-forth affair until Wheaton ended the stalemate with 8:22 on the clock.
Wheaton College scored twice during the first 4:39 of the second stanza, putting them in front, 4-3. MIT quickly tied the game courtesy of a solo effort by sophomore Kira Schott. However, Wheaton slowly strung together six unanswered goals as its final marker came with 5:05 left to play. DiDio ended the Cardinal and Gray's scoring drought by redirecting a feed from freshman Keeley Erhardt with 1:59 to go before completing the hat-trick 33 seconds later. Wheaton College then recorded the final goal of the day with 15 ticks remaining.
Schott tacked on five draw controls, four groundballs, and two caused turnovers while freshman Devin Williams posted three groundballs and three caused turnovers for the Engineers. Senior Erin Kenney registered two groundballs as junior Candice Kaplan collected seven saves.
