Bermuda's Nicholas Narraway and Liam Flannery delivered strong performances at the Pan American Championships U23 - Road Race Cycling Championships in Panama.
The challenging 153.6 km race saw early breakaways by powerful riders which held for most of the race, leaving Narraway and Flannery in the peloton over three minutes behind the leaders.
However, the duo's patience and strategic play paid off in the last 24 km when they started to pull back the leaders. Although the first four cyclists had already crossed the finish line, Narraway and Flannery, who finished in 11th and 19th place respectively, managed to close the time gap with the peloton only 39 seconds behind the leader.
Meanwhile, Caitlin Conyers and Gabby Arnold represented Bermuda in the Pan American Elite Women's Road Championships in an impressive race in Panama. They competed against a strong field of women over a challenging 102.4km course. Conyers finished a remarkable 41st place, only .03 seconds behind the winner, while Arnold finished 53rd, 2:33 behind the winner. It was a tough competition with 80 women starting the race.
