Reigning Caribbean Road Champion in the Road Race and Road Time Trial, Alexi Costa has been selected to the Women’s Caribbean Cycling Team to compete at the Vuelta a Guatemala from June 5th – 9th, the team will also feature two Bermuda Cyclist in Caitlin Conyers and Nicole Mitchell.
98 cyclists will be pedaling on roads of the departments of Escuintla, Sololá, Quetzaltenango, Totonicapán, Chimaltenango and Guatemala City will be 462.3km.
Costa, who is currently training and competing in the USA under the watchful eye of 13x National Road Champion, Emile Abraham will head the squad of 6 which also includes Lisa Groothuesheidkamp (CUR), Donelys Cariño (PUR), and Juana Fernandez (DOM)
Within the past few months, Costa was vocal about the harsh and impractical selection policy imposed by the Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation for the Elite Pan Am Road Championships, for which she eventually was not selected for.
However, the Pan American Sports Organization recognized the accolades achieved by the double Caribbean Champion to select her as one of the best female cyclists in the Caribbean.
