Craig Brown the President of the Bermuda Golf Association said, “As we embark on a new season, the first without any COVID restrictions since 2019 we are excited to announce a few changes that will be occurring at the Bermuda Golf Association.
Many of you will be aware, during the past twelve months the Bermuda Golf Association has been carefully executing a succession plan to replace Gary Venning. Venning is vacating his current role as our Golf Administrator and Director of Tournament Operations. Over the years, Gary has worked directly with many of you in handling administrative queries and providing leadership advice in the use of Golf Genius software. I know you will join me in expressing our sincere gratitude to Venning, for his Rules expertise, knowledge of tournament operations and the workload he has put in to assist the game of golf on the island. He has been a stalwart for the game, and there is no doubt the role of the BGA Golf Administrator is in a much better place due to Venning's tireless efforts over the years.
As we near completion of the handover process, it is our intention to have Venning transition to a new role, as Rules Director. Gary has been tasked with a clear mandate to oversee the creation of a Rules Teaching pathway to develop the next generation of Rules Officials. In addition, Venning will be overseeing the course rating process we plan to undertake in 2024.
Darrin Lewis will join the Bermuda Golf Association with a new role as General Secretary for the Bermuda Golf Association and Director of Tournament Operations. Lewis comes to the BGA with a rich background in sport, teaching and administration.
We feel Lewis’ integrity and leadership skills will galvanize our stakeholders, as we continue to together in developing the game of golf in Bermuda.
On behalf on The Bermuda Golf Association, I thank you for your continued trust and support. We wish you all great success for the upcoming golf season.”
