The First Round of the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship concluded at Port Royal Golf Course. The field of 132 players are playing for a $6.5 million purse, and the champion will receive $1.17 million and 500 FedExCup points. Austin Smotherman and Harrison Endycott share the lead by one stroke after tying the tournament record for a low opening round with a 9-under, 62. That was one shot off the tournament and course record of 61, set by Taylor Pendrith in last year’s second round. Smotherman turned in a bogey-free round with nine Birdies, including six in eight holes from #2-#9. Endycott, making his first appearance in Bermuda, carded two Eagles, seven Birdies, and two Bogeys on the day.
Jarryd Dillas is the top Bermudian in the field, finishing at 2-under par with an opening round 69. That is the lowest score posted by a Bermudian competing in the tournament historically and he is T85th.
Dillas shot 5 Birdies, 10 Pars, and 3 Bogey’s in his round.
Nick Jones shot an Even Round, 71 to walk off T110th, Jones’ round consisted of 4 Birdies, 10 Pars, and 4 Bogey’s.
Michael Sims is T127th after his First Round 2-over par 73, Sims shot 2 Birdies, 13 Pars, 2 Bogey’s, and 1 Double Bogey.
Kim Swan shot 18-over par 89 to finish 131st, Swan carded 8 Pars, 5 Bogey’s, 4 Double Bogey’s, and 1 Quadruple Bogey.
