In the latest North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Newsletter they gave a Bermuda 2021 Carifta Update.
The NACAC Survey of member federations in respect of the Carifta Games 2021 is now closed. The results are being tabulated and a full report will be provided in the next edition of This Week In NACAC, scheduled for Monday, January 18th, 2021 by both Mike Sand the President of NACAC, and the President of the Bermuda National Athletics Association Donna Raynor,
Also, the NACAC Cross Country has been rescheduled, following the meeting on Wednesday morning, further discussions were held with the leadership of the Honduras member federation led by Jose Calixto Sierra, and the Technical Delegate for the Cross Country Championships, Carlos Clemente.
NACAC, therefore, announces the rescheduling of its Cross Country Championships for this year to December 4th, 2021.
And finally, NACAC paid a Tribute to a Bermudan Athletics Icon.
The Bermuda National Athletics Association and indeed the nation’s entire athletics fraternity are mourning the loss of one of their icons, Earl “Gabby” Hart, one of the founding members of the Bermuda Track and Field Association and a member of the first Executive Committee.
Hart, an avid supporter of Track & Field, served on the Organizing Committee when Bermuda hosted the Carifta Games in 1975, for the first time (an edition of the Games long remembered if only because Bermuda earned more medals than Jamaica). He also served on the Organizing Committee when Bermuda again hosted the Carifta Games in 1980.
