BSSF Netball All-Star Round-Up

The much anticipated Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Netball All-Star matches were held at the Bermuda College Gym with the East winning two of the three matches.

PRIMARY SCHOOL ALL STARS

East 17 West 6


The East were runaway winners in the Primary School All-Star Netball match winning 17-6.

Sophia Odouri from Northlands Primary led all scorers with 10 goals. Ki'ana Simmons from Prospect Primary scored 4 while Northlands Primary's Reegan Lightbourne added 3.

Quin Burgess from Warwick Academy and Cataleya McCallan from West Pembroke Primary scored three each for the West. Odouri and Cush Belboda from Purvis Primary were named MVPs for the match.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ALL STARS

East 35 West 1


The East continued their winning ways with a 35-1 win over the West in the Middle School match.

The Whitney Institute Middle School pair of E'Rynn Paynter and Cindi-Anna Darrell led the scoring with 15 and 11 goals respectively for the East. Somersfield Academy's Sydney Troake added 9 goals for the East.

Ja'Miyah Johnston from Whitney earned MVP for the East for her defensive efforts while Mayah Williams-Johnson from Bermuda High School was named MVP for the West.

SENIOR SCHOOL ALL STARS

West 24 East 22


The Senior School game was the match of the night when the West held off a furious fourth quarter comeback from the East to eventually win 24-22.

The East trailed 21-13 heading into the fourth quarter and moved MVP Jamir Hatherley from CedarBridge Academy to the goal attack position to bolster their attack. The move paved immediate dividends as the East scored nine goals in the Fourth Quarter to cut the lead to 2. They eventually ran out of time and the west held on to win a thrilling match 24-22.

CedarBridge teammate Rihanna Reddicks led all scorers with 14 goals, Hatherley added 3 goals with Cedarbridge's Sydney Santos added 4 goals and Saltus Grammar School's Brittany Pacheco scored 1.

The Berkeley Institute's Haley Trott earned MVP honors for leading the West offense with 9 goals. Berkeley teammate Makaylie Smith added 8 goals. BHS shooter Akina Williams added an offensive spark with 4 goals while Warwick Academy's Jessica Oppenheim rounded out the West scoring with 3 goals.
