The 54th Semaine Olympique Française de Hyères - TPM opened in classic Côte d’Azur conditions with unending sunshine and a 25-knot Mistral mixing it up across fleets. It was a day for flying, punctuated by nosedives, capsizes, and white knuckle rides in short steep waves, with Bermuda sailors Adriana Penruddocke, Campbell Patton, Sebastian Kempe, and Benn Smith all competing.
Penruddocke competing in the ILCA6 Fleet ended Day One in 20th place with 17 points. Penruddocke finished 9th in the first race, before crossing the line 8th in the second race.
Patton came off the water in 58th place with 37 points, in the ILCA7 Fleet, Patton finished 18th in the first race, before finishing 19th in the second race.
Kempe finished 107th with 73 points, but he is the Under 19 Leader, Kempe crossed the line 35th in the first race, before closing out the day in 38th in the second race.
Smith finished the day 129th with 83 points. Smith would have a finishing place 45th in the first race, before finishing 38th in the second race.
