Bermuda Sailors Continue Competing in Spain

A day when the local Embat sea breeze came in on cue at 12-13kts allowed Mallorca’s showcase 52 Trofeo Princesa Sofia to complete the qualifying series for all classes, allowing tomorrow’s Finals to be contested on schedule to decide who will compete in Saturday’s titles decider.

Bermuda continues being represented by Adrianna Penrudducke in the ILCA6 Class, while Ben Smith, Campbell Patton, and Sebastian Kempe are competing in the Men’s ILCA7 Class.

In a fleet of 106 sailors in the ILCA6 Class Penrudducke fell from her starting position of 58th to 71st with 122 Net Points, this after she finished 39th in the first race and the third of the series, 27th in the second race, before being ruled On The Course (BFD) before the start of the race in the third race of the day.

The Men’s ILCA7 Class has 184 competitors competing, Kempe leads the Bermuda sailors as he is in 84th place with 98 Net Points, Kempe would finish 23rd in the first race, before finishing 30th in the second race, before closing out the day with a 30th place finish in the third race of the day.

Patton is 109th with 122 Net Points, he had a finish of 34th in the first race, he would then finish 37th in the second race, before finishing 41st in the third race.

Smith came off the water in 126th with 149 Net Points, Smith finished the first race in 12th, before finishing 47th in the second race, he would close out with a 43rd in the third race.
