 Benn Smith began competing in the 2023 US Open Sailing Series Ft. Lauderdale.
Competing in the ILCA7 Fleet among a Fleet of 28 sailors, Smith finished in 8th place after 5 races.
Smith would finish with 27 Net Points, Smith’s best finish came in the 4th race when he crossed the line in 3rd place.
Chapman Petersen won the fleet with 13 Net Points, Guthrie Braun was second with 18 Net Points, and Robby Meek rounded out the podium with 19 Net Points.
Smith will be joined by Sebastian Kempe, and Campbell Patton, as well as Adriana Penruddocke to compete in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale US Open Sailing Series.
Smith, Kempe, and Patton will compete in the ILCA7 Fleet, while Adriana Penruddocke will compete in the ILCA6 Fleet.
