Adriana Penruddocke and Benn Smith began competing in the 2022 US Open OCR Sailing Series in Clearwater, Florida.
Penruddocke competing in the 80 competitors ILCA6 Class came off the water after the first three races in 10th place with 9 Net points.
Penruddocke finished the first race in 6th place, which was followed by a 3rd place finish in the second race, Penruddocke would close out with a 7th place finish in the third race.
Smith competing in the 27 competitors ILCA7 Class finished the day with 20 Net Points in 9th place.
Race One saw Smith cross the line in 12th place, he would then finish 8th in the second race.
Smith would be issued UFD which is a U flag disqualified.
The U flag is the one that goes up in the place of the preparatory flag during the 5-minute starting sequence. It is the “soft” black flag, no part of a boat’s hull, crew or equipment shall be in the triangle formed by the ends of the Starting line and the first mark during the last minute before her starting signal. If a boat breaks this rule and is identified she shall be disqualified without a hearing but not if the race is restarted or re-sailed or postponed or abandoned before the starting signal.
