The second day of the ICSA/APS Team Race National Championships in St. Petersburg, Florida, began with the first round robin of the regatta including all 14 teams. This round determined places 9-14. Sailors arrived to steady 8-10 knot winds from the Southeast. Temperatures started in the 70s and warmed up into the 80s later in the day.
Joshua Greenslade and his St. Mary’s College of Maryland took to the water as conditions were nice for racing with an even course to compete on making it great for team racing. The top three teams tied for first after yesterday finished the preliminary round on top.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland defeated Stanford University 8 – 13, they then defeated the US Naval Academy 8 – 13. St. Mary’s College of Maryland were edged 10 – 9 to Yale University, they then went down to Roger Williams University 9 – 13.
Greenslade and St. Mary’s College of Maryland won their next match defeating Brown University 6 – 15, before they closed out the day going down 8 – 13 to Georgetown University.
